Please Read! What's New?
In addition to the boring
security/performance updates and the visual overhaul, our site relaunch
is accompanied by several functionality enhancements.
My Account:
Improved (we hope) email support. If you forget your password, or never got the one promised to you via email-try again now-you should get the info you need now. If not-use the Contact form and let us know!
Theme configuration. If you have a slow dialup connection, or use an old browser, you have the option of switching from our default theme/skin to one that is much faster-loading and friendlier to older web standards and accessibility requirements. Whatever you choose in "my account" will become your default theme every time you log in.
Contact settings-gone is the old "private message" module. In its place is a contact form, if you check the "Personal contact form" box, then folks will be able to contact you directly via your email address (though preserving the privacy of that address). To contact someone, just click on her/his name (after a comment, forum post by her/him) and click on the "contact" tab. Note that when you contact someone, your registered email address IS sent to the person (in the "from" field).
My subscriptions - if you wish to follow activity within the comments of a story, new label releases, or posts by a favorite contributor, you now can be notified of any updates automatically via email. You can subscribe to whole categories from the tab, and if you check the "Autosubscribe" box under the edit tab, you will automatically be notified of any updates to content you post in. Forum updates are presently only supported (automatically) when you post in topics.
Cart:
Our humble label now has a ‘shopping cart' function, with payment welcome directly via paypal. If you add items to your cart when logged in, it will be saved indefinitely. If demand for an alternative pay service reaches critical mass, we may add it, so don't hesitate to ask.
Forums:
The forums have been completely reworked to look like something with which you are probably more familiar.
Comments:
You now have several rich-text options when commenting a story on the site. These include the ability for bold, italics, underline, bulleted lists, hyperlinks, images, similes, and a spell-checker. If your browser does not like these features, let us know, and we'll disable them for you.
Social bookmarking:
We now support various social bookmarking/searching links on all our stories, including Technorati, Digg, and del.icio.us. All in all, they represent some of the coolest trends in "Web 2.0" use. If you have some time, read the Wikipedia link above, and give them a try. If you'd like us to add other links, tell us. Supported sites are Reddit, ma.gnolia.com, Newsvine, Furl, Google, Yahoo, IceRocket, and PubSub.
Family:
Check out our "family" link (was links) at the top of the page. It's more than a list of links to our favorite sites--through the the marvels of rss/atom feeds, we will actually be syndicating content from the various sites here. I know I'm already using it to keep abreast of all the cool stuff going on in the scene. Social bookmarks on these items link to the original content.

Forum Change
Well, I've now integrated the two forums, and changed some things, so folks can now use the same editor as what is in the comments. One cool button here, is the "youtube" one. Check it out!
